Combined Cadet Force

The Combined Cadet Force is an excellent extra-curricular activity at Ruskin. Joining the CCF is an optional activity, open to all students from Year 9 and above. Recruitment for the CCF takes place during Module 4 of year 8 and prospective future cadets will begin their training after the Easter holidays of year 8. They will spend this time exploring their outdoor skills through initial expedition training and map and compass skills. When students begin in year 9, they will be given their Blue RAF uniforms and begin their formal training in being a Royal Air Force Air Cadet.

During their time in the cadets, students will develop skills in leadership, responsibility, self-reliance, resourcefulness, endurance and perseverance. Through the extensive training syllabus, the cadets will use their skills during training evenings, camps with other cadets and schools from across the country, as well as annual competitions.

Although military themed, the core focus for the CCF in school is to develop young citizens who will develop a love of teamwork and gain essential life skills from which they will benefit in many aspects of their later lives.
