IMPORTANT NOTICE
We would like to inform parents and prospective families that we have had to make the decision to move the Sport aptitude test dates that were originally scheduled for July 9th, 10th and 14th.
They will now take place after our Open Evening, on Monday 29th September, Wednesday 1st October and Thursday 2nd October.
As a result, all existing bookings for Sport aptitude assessments have been cancelled. They will now all take place after our Open Evening, on Monday 29th September, Wednesday 1st October and Thursday 2nd October. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have already booked a specific day, you will be given first refusal of the equivalent new date. However, you will need to resubmit your application using the link. For example, if you were booked for Wednesday 9th July, you will have priority for Wednesday 1st October when you rebook. Of course, if you’d prefer to choose a different day from the new options, that’s absolutely fine too.
The visual arts aptitude assessment final submission date has also been moved to Friday 3rd October, and prospective students can continue to add to their portfolios until then, if they have already been submitted. All other arrangements, including timings for the visual arts and sports aptitude tests, will remain the same.
Results of the sport and visual art aptitude assessments will be released by October 13th, ahead of the 31st October deadline when secondary school choices need to be made.

The Priory Ruskin Academy will admit up to 21 students in Year 7 on the basis of their aptitude for Sport or the Visual Arts. Parents who wish to seek a place at the Academy for their child based on aptitude for Sport or Visual Arts should present their child for assessment.
Details regarding the next aptitude test for Year 5 students (looking to join in September 2026) are set out below.
Assessment Date for Visual Arts:
Visual Arts portfolio submissions should be handed in to the academy Main Reception by Friday 3rd October (along with the aptitude application form). All portfolios must be in the form of hard copies, not in digital format.
Assessment Dates for Sport:
The dates for the sports aptitude assessments are as follows:
- Monday 29th September
- Wednesday 1st October
- Thursday 2nd October
A portfolio is NOT required for the Sport aptitude assessment.
Please complete the on-line aptitude assessment form by Friday 26th September 2025, in order to book a slot.
Arrangements for the Aptitude assessment
If you would like your child to participate in one of the aptitude assessments, please complete an aptitude on-line application form. Click here to view the letter to parents detailing the arrangements for assessment.
Taking the assessment is not an application in itself; assessments will only be considered when the Local Authority's Common Application Form has been received by the LA and the Academy has been notified, confirming that an application has been made.
