Design and Technology

"Design is intelligence made visible"- Alina Wheeler

Design and technology is an inspiring, rigorous subject where students get the opportunity to apply acquired knowledge to practical situations. Using creativity and imagination, students design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values.

The Design & Technology curriculum will develop, maintain and stimulate students’ curiosity, interest and enjoyment in Design and Technology, empowering the acquisition of knowledge and nurturing critical thinking skills to solve problems old and new.  Design & Technology will also develop students’ ability to apply knowledge and skills, when designing, making and critically evaluating prototypes.  The Design & Technology curriculum will emphasise links to Science, Maths and Literacy, developing students' understanding of sustainability issues relating to various materials and how this can impact on design decision-making.
