The Priory Ruskin Academy Local Governing Body comprises:
Miss V Hammond, Chair of Governors
Victoria has worked in education for over 10 years. She has a BA (Hons) in Literature through the Open University and gained her Qualified Teacher Status at the Bishop Grosseteste University College, Lincoln. Victoria joined the governing body in 2017, inspired by having seen her own children thrive at the academy. She became the Chair of Governors in 2019.
Mrs Sheriden Edwards, Vice Chair
Sheriden joined the governing body in 2014. Sheriden has served as Chair of Governors and became Vice Chair in 2019. An experienced primary school teacher, Sheriden graduated from Durham University with a BA (Hons) and later completed a PGCE at Nottingham Trent University. She is currently the Executive Head of two local primary schools.
Fr Stuart Cradduck, Community
Mr Phil Cranwell, Community
Following a successful career in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Phil took the role of Governor at Ruskin in 2015. He brought with him several years of experience as a governor at a previous school. Outside of the Academy, Phil has volunteered for a number of organisations including: Grantham Foodbank, British Red Cross, the NHS, and currently the South Lincolnshire Blind Society.
Mrs Victoria Geeson, Support Staff
Vicki joined the Governing Body as a Staff Governor over 5 years ago and has been a member of staff at Ruskin since 2008. Community is central to Vicki’s role at the academy and she has coordinated numerous local, national and international charities building strong community links along the way. A mother of two, Vicki’s youngest son successfully completed his Sixth Form studies at the academy in 2019, and is currently studying Law at university. Outside of her work at the academy, Vicki is a keen runner and is a member of Grantham Running Club.
Mrs Ros Gulson, Community
Prior to retirement, Ros enjoyed a career in education spanning 40 years. During that time she was Principal of an 11 to 18 academy with additional responsibilities at both national and local level. Currently, Rosalind is Chair of the school appeals' committees of one of the three national examining bodies. She also chairs the school admission appeals for a local authority. In 2005 Ros was awarded the OBE for services to education and since 2015 has been a governor at Ruskin.
Mr Peter Murphy, Teaching Staff
Peter is a member of staff at Ruskin and was appointed as a Governor in 2007, which also included 4 years as Staff Trustee on The Priory Federation of Academies Trust Board. He brings a wealth of educational experience, with over 20 years teaching practice, having held numerous senior positions including, most recently, Head of House at The Priory Ruskin Academy. Peter has a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Biology from the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. He is originally from the Grantham area and has close community connections. During his spare time Peter is an active traveller and lover of the outdoors. He participates in many activities including camping, hiking, running and surfing. In the past few years he has taken up scuba diving and, as well as diving around the world, is now an instructor for BSAC.
Dr Gerald Seaman, Parent & Community
Jerry is Principal and Scholar in Residence at Harlaxton College. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, with a Masters and Ph.D. from Stanford University. Jerry has been in higher education leadership for over twenty years holding positions as Dean, Vice President, and President in the American university context. He joined Ruskin’s Governing Body in 2015.
Mrs Veronica Slater, Community
Veronica joined the Governing Body in 2014 following a successful career as a School Business Manager in the secondary education sector. She has vast experience in all aspects of running a school and, following her time as Clerk to the Governors, a comprehensive understanding of the role of the Governor. Since her retirement Veronica has become a member of the Grantham U3A and serves on their committee. She is an active member of the local Methodist Church and has been secretary to a number of organisations including the Grantham Foodbank. A mother to four children, two step-children and grandmother to nine grandchildren, Veronica is passionate about education and the important role it plays in supporting our young people to achieve their potential and develop into well rounded adults.
