Graphics

Course Description

This course has been designed to encourage students to be able to design and make   products with creativity and originality, using a range of materials and techniques.  A detailed design portfolio produced by the students will show design development from the initial idea through to realisation. The course is split into three units. Skills Demonstration, Extended Making and Visual Communication. Students will be working on Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and In-design as well as practical hands on design.

Career Progression

Graphic Communication is a good subject to study if you have career aspirations in the following areas; Product Design, Graphic Design, Architecture, Marketing, Digital Design, Web Design* and many other practical trades. This course leads onto Graphic Communication A Level.

Assessment Structure

Students will be assessed by both examination and practical coursework components.

Why study this subject?     

Any student who enjoyed Design Technology Graphics at key stage 3 or is interested in design, fashion and making/developing products, should consider this course. Examples of possible projects include: (Logo design and branding, Advertising, Font Design, packaging, T-shirt graphics) and many others….

 

*Please note, you will not be studying web design or games design, however you will learn the tools to be able to create graphics to help you better understand how to implement computer graphics into game and web design.
